With the city about to embark on a “heat wave” the Brighton Festival could not have arrived at a better time and the buzz and excitement around the city is clear for all of our students current and new to see.
Incorporating local events into the social programme is a critical way to ensure our students can benefit from the full cultural experience in Brighton. With the city about to embark on a “heat wave” the Brighton Festival could not have arrived at a better time and the buzz and excitement around the city is clear for all of our students current and new to see. The Brighton Festival is an annual celebration of music, theatre, dance, art, film, literature that takes place across the city and is a truly wonderful event for our students to be a part of and is something that will hopefully provide amazing memories for them to take away from their time in Brighton.
Each week we offer three free activities on our social programme and in May many of these will include events from Brighton Festival. The biggest free art event in Britain is staged within the homes of Brighton’s local artists. They offer a unique and wonderful opportunity for art lovers to see their work within a domestic setting. Entry to the homes is free and there is also the chance to buy affordable work directly from the local artists. Brighton Dome’s Café-bar on Church Street is the heartbeat of the city during the festival – with a variety of fresh dishes made from fantastic local produce this very affordable food is really worth trying and is a fantastic place to meet friends and to soak up the atmosphere. The city is a place of endless energy, enthusiasm and excitement and it is these characteristics that help to produce such a fantastic cultural experience for our students.
Of course with so much going on in May it will not be possible to include everything within the social programme. With that in mind I will publish a poster in our student lounge with an extensive list of what is going on throughout the Brighton Festival so none of our students miss out on something that the Festival has to offer. I hope the students will enjoy and really take full advantage of this truly spectacular, unique event that our city has to offer. Look out for all the photos on our Facebook page!
